Square Treats Show

The inaugural Square Treats Art Show hosted at the NiblockAvis offices on Lakeshore was a huge success for everyone involved. I decided to run this short and sweet 3 day show after several years of ‘thinking about it’.

I knew this was the year to take action and make things happen - it was designed to bring a sprinkle of joy to Oakville just before the holidays. Buying original art can be a big step for some, and for others it’s a passion that never wanes. Either way, the message was simple “Whether you’re starting your love affair with art, or if you’re a seasoned buyer Square Treats are a way to indulge yourself or treat someone special”

23 Artists and more than 100 pieces of original work 12x12 and smaller were available. Over 3 days we had a steady flow with over 200 visitors and the litmus test were the ‘walk-ins’ who just popped in - several of whom became buyers which was a bonus.

What is success? Every visitor happy to have been included and welcomed with zero pressure for an artful and easy browsing experience. Over 40 paintings sold to happy buyers, with 100% of artists happy to have taken part. Our hosts at NiblockAvis delighted to continue their relationship with local artists and have new connections for their business.

Oakville is now part of a growing movement across Canadian art communities to host it’s own ‘smalls show’ for independent artists. Feedback from artists and visitors was overwhelmingly positive…watch this space for another show!
